Jane Austen bi-monthly club Lady Susan

This is the Allium Threads yarn and thread club based around the clothing that the characters in the books by Jane Austen would have worn.

It is  a bi-monthly club because natural dyeing can be a slow process and using some dyestuffs can take a few weeks.

This is a listing for yarn that will be delivered in September 2024. This will be available for purchase until 31st August. The yarn and thread will then be dyed and then sent out in the second half of September 2024.

This is the second installment of the Allium Threads bi-monthly yarn and thread club and we are moving on to Lady Susan, written in 1794 when Jane was 18.

It is a novel written in letter form and tells the tale of Lady Susan Vernon. She is a beautiful but poor widow who is very charming but very manipulative. She flirts and seduces to sponge off others and give an impression of wealth. She tries to marry her teenage daughter off to a wealthy older man. It’s a lively tale and was made into a film staring Kate Beckinsale although they titled it Love and Friendship.   

There is a choice of four variations to choose from:

1. 100g plus 20g of Acorn Four ply sock - 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon. 425m per 100g, 85m per 20g.

2. Two 100g skeins of Haw lace weight yarn - 70% Baby Alpaca, 20% Silk, 10% Cashmere 100g Skeins Approx. 800m

3 Two 100g skeins of Fruit Four ply - 50% Exmoor Blueface 30% Bluefaced Leicester, 20% Lustre Breeds. 388m per 100g. Spun in Devon from local fleece by John Arbon - this is their Devonia base. 

4. Four skeins of 24m skeins of silk embroidery thread

Within each variation, the skeins will co-ordinate and the mood board gives a flavour of the colours that may be included.
